Walked 4.70 Miles – Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden
I wanted to get one last walk in for 2013. When I set off, I didn’t know where I was headed until I realized that today is Tuesday. The Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden is free on Tuesdays. That settled it. I hadn’t been there in many months and it was the perfect destination for today’s walk.
When I was walking, I was trying to think of the past year and reflect on all the good and bad. The best thing that happened to me this year was getting a new job in August. I’m so happy to have found a job that I feel truly lucky to go to each day. Along with my new job, good habits and routines are in place which has made my whole life that much richer. I’m so grateful for this change.
The garden was quiet and peaceful. I saw only a few other people.
I saw lots and lots of ducks. When I arrived at the garden, I turned my music off and just listened to the noisy ducks. I even got to hear my favorite, the American Wigeon, which I haven’t seen for quite some time. I walked slowly around the garden and just enjoyed every second I was there.
I looked up my Runkeeper stats for 2013 and I walked 346 miles! I logged 104 different walking activities which doesn’t include biking or my lunchtime walks. I’m so proud of these stats. I’ve set a higher goal for 2014. The only other goal I’ve set for the year is to run the entire Gervais 5k next October. I think I can do it!
