Fused Glass Class #3

Fused Glass Class #3

Posted on Jun 2, 2005

My third glass class was all about inclusions.  Again, my favorites are this top group.  The piece on the top left was my attempt to recreate a necklace that I love.  It looks pretty close to the original.  I can’t wait to mount that piece and wear it.  The piece on the bottom right is this week’s leaf motif.  The leaf is copper foil that I cut out and drew vines.  I really like this one...

Peonies

Peonies

I love Peonies.  I don’t know why, but I’m so drawn to them.  At one time I even contemplated getting a tattoo of a Peony.  They are far superior to the rose.  Which I believe is totally over rated.  I’m not into things that can hurt me.  It’s a little ironic since I live in the ‘City of Roses’.  I guess I’ve never been known for being main stream.  If...

Dog Earrings

Dog Earrings

Posted on May 31, 2005

The nice thing about a three day weekend is having the time to be creative.  I actually found time to make these earrings.  It’s the first thing I’ve done outside of a class in a the last month or so. I did realize that I need a new soldering iron.  Mine does not stay hot.  I have to wait for it to re-heat after every use.  It’s not very convenient and it also doesn’t allow for a good...

The Effects of Separation

The Effects of Separation

I was cruising around the web jumping from one link to the next and I happened upon this piece.  The artist is Chris Buzelli and his work is just amazing.  I love when you find something that instantly connects with you.  Art can be so powerful and passionate.  It’s easy to see how it feeds the soul.  It’s why I have this crazy desire to be an artist.  It so...

Fused Glass Class #2

Fused Glass Class #2

Posted on May 26, 2005

These are the results my second fused glass class.  I’m much happier with these than the first class.  First, I made them much smaller.  The square pieces are an inch by an inch.  The longer ones are an inch by an inch and a half.  I really think these are the perfect sized pendants.  You can see how I was experimenting with frits (the powdering looking stuff) and the stringers (the glass that looks...

What’s in a Name?

What’s in a Name?

Posted on May 25, 2005

I am named after the Marty Robbin’s song Jolie Girl.  I grew up listening and loving the song.  I told everyone I knew that is how I got my name.  Then a couple of years ago, I was talking to my mom and mentioned how cool I thought it was to be named for the song.  My mom blew me away by saying that wasn’t how I was named.  It was an earth shattering moment for me.  I had embraced the idea...

I-Pod Cozy

I-Pod Cozy

Posted on May 24, 2005

This is my newest knitting project.  My husband fell into the i-pod craze.  He can’t function without his.  He is a bit of a music nerd.  He used to carry a back pack full of CD to listen to where ever he went.  Now with his i-pod, he back is no longer in pain from the weight of music.  I used the pattern out of the Stitch and Bitch book.  I didn’t stripe my cozy like the pattern...

Barn Owls

Barn Owls

Posted on May 21, 2005

I have been watching these barn owls while I’m at work.  There are 4 babies and they live in California.  I love technology!  I sit in front of a computer all day long, so it helps to pass the time by having the barn owls up in a corner of my computer screen.  You can view them here and the screen refreshes every 30 seconds.  I’m getting rather attached to them.  I think it would be really fun...

Fused Glass Class #1

I’m currently in the middle of a four week fused glass class.  These are the results from the first week.  The three above turned out the best and I wore the one on the left to work yesterday.  I didn’t realize how much the glass will expand, so they are all a bit bigger than I had anticipated.  I tried to create smaller things in the second class.  The two on the right, I will glue backs to them...

My Crafty Cousin

My Crafty Cousin

Posted on May 17, 2005

This is one of the few things my cousin ever made me.  He has a great eye for arranging and decorating.  He has great style, but If you ask him, he will tell you that he isn’t crafty at all.  I don’t think he gives himself the credit he deserves.  This hangs next to the door in my art room.  It’s the last thing I see when I leave that room.  I really really love this piece.  It says...
