13 and Counting

13 years ago today, I was kissed by a very cute boy.  Little did I know that kiss would change my life forever.  I’ve spent over a third of my life with my husband.  We have had more highs than lows, more good than bad and life has always been interesting.  I love that he is in my stories when I reminisce about college or ‘the good ol’ days’.  I love that he was there when my niece was...

I’m off for a week cruise to Alaska.  I can’t believe it’s finally here.  We’ve been waiting for months and months.  We have almost finished packing and are now left with the endless checks and re-checks.  My husband can be a bit obsessive about these sorts of things.  Then again, we never seem to forget stuff, so it’s all good.  See you in a week! These flowers were part of...

Watercolor – Final Class

Watercolor – Final Class

Posted on Jun 10, 2006

So my watercolor class has finally ended.  This last week we did flowers.  I’m super happy with this top painting.  I love the vase and I’m very happy with the flowers.  Besides focusing on flowers we also learned about using resists.  A resist is something added to the paper to make the watercolor ‘resist’ sticking to the paper.  Each center of the flower has chalk pastels to help...

Goodwill Paper Book

Goodwill Paper Book

Posted on Jun 9, 2006

In the same trip that I got the needle punch at Goodwill, I also came home with this book.  It’s a very thick book at 512 pages and over 300 hundred ideas.  I really don’t think I will need another book on paper crafts.  Granted about a third of the book is either redundant or has ideas that I probably wouldn’t use, but there are still a huge plethora of things that I will use.  Here a just a few...

Goodwill Needle Punch

Goodwill Needle Punch

Posted on Jun 8, 2006

I was lucky enough to find a needle punch at Goodwill for 2 dollars.  It’s something that I’ve read about about in the blog world and was curious about it.  The needle punch was in pristine condition with three needles and a very long instruction book. The book came with 15 iron on patterns that had never been used.  Here are a few of the patterns.  You can tell this was made in the 70′s. ...

Donna Marxer is my choice for WAW this week.  I really dig the picture within a picture idea.  It adds so much to her work.  Donna is from Florida and has been painting for 50 years.  Hopefully I will be painting 50 years from now! I think this painting above is amazing!  Love the...

Intarsia Class at Lint

My friend and I took our second knitting class at Lint this Saturday.  The class was Intro to Intarsia taught by Leigh Radford.  The class was all day from 10am to 4:30pm.  That’s a lot of knitting.  Above is what I got done.  We actually I go the first two groups of circles done and then I came home inspired and knocked out another two circles.  I only have two more circles to do.  The end...

Diane Archer is an Oregon Artist.  I’ve seen her several years in a row at the Metal Guild shows.  I love her stuff.  What a great idea to use maps in her jewelry.  I wish I had thought of this idea first, although I have no idea how she does this.  Her prices are very reasonable.  Definitely check out her web-site. I’m such a sucker for mixed media art.  I can’t say enough good...

Claudine Hellmuth’s Books

My husband and Mother-in-law got me these books and DVDS by Claudine Hellmuth for my Birthday.  I love Claudine’s work and really wanted to take her classes when she visits Portland in October.  Her classes are expensive, although I’m sure worth every penny.  When I found these books and DVDs, I decided this might be the better way to go.  I would highly recommend these books to anyone.  They are...
