Dog Sitting

Dog Sitting

Posted on Oct 22, 2007

I’m back after a bit of a blog break.  I spent all last week dog sitting for my friends.  I’ve dog sat for them for a few years now, so it was easy to jump in last week.  I always have fun at their house.  Louie up above is just so adorable! I think this picture makes Wiggles look like a kangaroo. Tigger is so shy, but came around more this time.  She even jumped up on the bed with me the very...

I’m so excited to showcase this week’s WAW Artist.  Doug Randall’s glass work is just amazing.  He makes vessels that just boggle the mind.  These aren’t small items.  They are big heavy complicated creations.  On top of that, he’s a heck of a nice guy.  He generously gave my kiln partner and I lots and lots of scrap glass that is just perfect for our jewelry endeavors. ...

Nellie McKay

Nellie McKay

One late night while I was channel surfing I saw a young woman playing piano in a restaurant on a cable access channel.  I was mesmerized.  The quality of the show was very bad, but her talent was crazy good.  I had to find out who she was. That woman was Nellie McKay.  I immediately got her 2 CD debut album ‘Get Away From Me’ which is amazing! Sunday I got to see Nellie at the Aladdin Theater. ...

Cabaret

Cabaret

Saturday, I went to see Cabaret at the Gerding Theater.  I had seen the movie and always loved the music, but it wasn’t until I saw the play that I actually understood the story.   Sorry Liza and Joel, but the movie is a tad confusing and a bit disjointed.  The play on Saturday was powerful, emotional and very well done. Of course a large reason the play was so great was due to Wade McCollum’s and Storm...

My Mother-in-Law

My Mother-in-Law

Posted on Oct 6, 2007

Getting a Mother-in-Law can be a bit scary.  You hear all the horror stories of how mean they can be.  I hit the lottery when I got my Mother-in-Law.  She is one of the greatest people I know and today is her Birthday.  This lady is hip (listens to Justin Timberlake and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), smart (her second language is computer) and just super cool (her idea of a good time is going CD shopping). She is also...

Willamette Week: Crafty Bitches

Portland’s craft scene is fierce (snap!).  You can read all about the incredible ladies that helped establish and maintain the craftiness in P-town in the newest Willamette Week.   I’m familiar with most of the people mentioned through my daily blog reading.  I’m just so impressed how dedicated and motivated these folks are.  It’s definitely...

I Heart Fall

I Heart Fall

It’s finally fall once again and I couldn’t be happier.  I love the leaves turning colors and the cooler crisper air.  I even love the rain which in Portland we sure do get a lot of in the fall.   But the very best thing about fall is that Trilly has started sleeping under the covers with me again.   He started the day after fall officially began.  Each  night he sneaks under the...

My niece is working her fimo magic again.  The starfish, crab and turtle are going to be game pieces in a project for school.  They are really too cute for words!  These were fresh out of the oven when I took the...

Birthday Cake

Birthday Cake

Posted on Oct 1, 2007

We celebrated my sister’s Birthday yesterday.  We  went out for a great Indian meal and then returned to her house for cake and presents.  My sister requested German Chocolate cake and I was happy to oblige since it’s one of my very favorites too. I even toasted the coconut and the pecans; something I’ve never tried before.  It was super simple to do, but you have to keep an eagle eye on the...

I love collage!  I haven’t made many over the years, but I always think I should do more; especially when I see great collage such as Marion Herrmann’s.  I just love her stuff.  You can also check out her blog.  She is a very crafty...
