I’m currently in the middle of a four week fused glass class. These are the results from the first week. The three above turned out the best and I wore the one on the left to work yesterday. I didn’t realize how much the glass will expand, so they are all a bit bigger than I had anticipated. I tried to create smaller things in the second class. The two on the right, I will glue backs to them to create pendants. The one on the left has a channel for the necklace to go through.
These three aren’t the prettiest. It’s a good exercise to know what works and what doesn’t. The one in the middle is actually really pretty, but I put a darker glass on top and you can’t see the green, blue, and purple glass I had underneath.
This is a 4 by 6 inch tile that I made at the end of the class. I had left over materials and a few extra minutes. I really liked how this turned out. I just don’t know what to do with it. I might slump it the last night of class.
Next week I will show you the items I made this week. The whole delayed gratification of having to wait a week to see the end result is really hard for me. I spend the whole week think how great everything is going to look and then get a little disappointed when things don’t look how they did in my mind’s eye. This week we worked with frits and stringers. I had a lot of fun. Hopefully some of the pendants will be wearable!
