Fused Glass Class #2

Posted on May 26, 2005

These are the results my second fused glass class.  I’m much happier with these than the first class.  First, I made them much smaller.  The square pieces are an inch by an inch.  The longer ones are an inch by an inch and a half.  I really think these are the perfect sized pendants.  You can see how I was experimenting with frits (the powdering looking stuff) and the stringers (the glass that looks like lines).  They really add some neat texture to the pieces.  I’m really into the leaf motif.  I think it’s going to become my thing.

This is the second group of things I made.  I don’t like these as much.  The very left one has a lot of frits, but the contrast isn’t great.  It’s hard to really see the design.  The very right is a fish.  I was practicing bending the glass stringers with a candle.  I need to get some backs and some glue to turn these into pendants.  Once I do, I will post pictures of the end results.

Last night I ended up making 14 pendants.  I can’t wait to see what they look like.  The practice of the classes is really helping me improve my cutting skills and also how to really jump in a make a bunch of things.  I’m intent on making the most things I can in this class.  Who knows when I will be around a kiln again.

  1. ooooh! That blue & green striped one in the corner is the BEST. I really like seeing your skill evolve over the past few blogs. I’m glad this class doesn’t totally suck like some in the past…
