Crewel Katamari

Posted on May 23, 2006

I’ve seen a lot of Katamari crafts on the web and I decided it was time to do my own.  I found the above picture all of the Prince’s friends.  I thought it would be fun to crewel the little dudes.

Here I have traced on linen the guys with a quilt pen.  It was tricky tracing from the picture because some of the guys are very light in color.  I did my best and will re-work them as need be.  This linen has larger holes that I would have liked.  It’s making it harder to place my stitches.

Here is what I’ve done so far.  I will come back to put the eyes in when they are all done.  I figure this is best done all at once.  It’s going to take some time to crewel all 24 characters.

I’m sure you are asking where I got all those snazzy crewel yarn colors when I was having such a hard time finding the stuff.  Well, my good friend got me this extremely cool and very hip craft bag for my birthday.

Inside it was filled with all different colors of crewel thread.  She told me that she went to many, many stores looking for the stuff and even made a trip to the Couve.  Now that is true friendship!  Check out how cool this craft bag is.  It has spaces for knitting needles and supplies and the clear center that the yarn is on holds several skeins of yarn.

  1. Geez, when do you have time to do everything? You make me feel lazy!!!

  2. YOU ARE MY HERO! And whoever got you that killer craft bag is now officially your coolest friend. I’m a little jealous/ashamed. :)
