My Mother-in-Law

Posted on Oct 6, 2007

Getting a Mother-in-Law can be a bit scary.  You hear all the horror stories of how mean they can be.  I hit the lottery when I got my Mother-in-Law.  She is one of the greatest people I know and today is her Birthday.  This lady is hip (listens to Justin Timberlake and the Red Hot Chili Peppers), smart (her second language is computer) and just super cool (her idea of a good time is going CD shopping).

She is also a mean cook.  The picture above is of the amazing apple and plum butter she made a month or so ago.  She bakes bread regularly…even grinding the wheat herself.   She also makes grape juice every year which is pure nectar of the gods.  It makes me crazy when I hear her talk about how un-crafty she is.  She has even crocheted blankets for most of her family.   Her crafty ability is limitless.

I think I’m the luckiest girl in the world to have wandered into a such a loving and creative family.  Happy Birthday!

  1. Thank you for all those sweet words.
You already know that I think you’re the best daughter-in-law I could have ever been blessed with. You’re the best wife in the world for my son – a perfect complement to his endearing, generous, lovable, but sometimes OCD-ish personality.
I have always been amazed by your creativity. Sure, I can follow a recipe or a pattern, but you actually create beautiful things that you think up in your head!
I’m looking forward to spending the day with you both. That’s my idea of a good time!
