This past year has been the hardest year of my life.  The main reason for this was my father-in-law's battle with esophageal cancer.   He was diagnosed just about one year ago.  His battled ended on December 2nd.  This loss has been hard for me.  I've been a member of my husband's family for 16 years; pretty much my entire adult life.  My father-in-law was truly my father figure in every sense.  He loved me as a daughter and for that I will be always grateful.  With a long battle, the family was prepared to lose him.  We had the opportunity to spend time with him and to let him know how much he was loved.

I took these pictures on a family camping trip at the Oregon coast.  He loved to camp and ride four wheelers in the sand.  He also loved to sit around the camp fire with his grandchildren close to him.  These family outings were my favorite times with him.  They are memories I will always cherish.
