I saw Ruth Greenberg on Oregon Art Beat a few weeks ago and I was so inspired. She figured out a better way to do her art. The way she creates her beautiful mosaics is brilliant. It was too difficult to cut tiles into such the precise shapes she wanted, so Ruth makes all of the tile in her mosaics. This way, she is able to create amazing curves and complexity. I really dig it when people find creative solutions and end up making spectacular art in the process.
If you haven't seen Oregon Art Beat, make a point to watch them on Thursdays at 8pm on Channel 10 (in Portland). Or better yet, check out their amazing website where you can watch all of the stories that air. They have a wealth of videos that will entertain and educate you for days.
