Sauvie’s Island Birds

Sauvie’s Island Birds

Posted on Sep 7, 2006

While I was in the huge flower fields taking pictures of flowers, I couldn’t help noticing these finches.  There were hundreds in the sunflowers along with just as many bees.  I’ve always been drawn to birds, so I knew I had to try and get some photos.  All of these photos have been cropped to get a better view of the birds.  They wouldn’t let me get close to them at all.  I would take a step...

Sauvie’s Island Flowers

Posted on Sep 5, 2006

This past weekend, my husband and I went to the Pumpkin Patch on Sauvie’s Island.  We love going to the corn maze every year.  It’s also a great place to take pictures.  I like to have a theme when I’m taking pictures.  I really liked how pretty the flowers were right before they opened up.  So I picked that as my theme.  It’s just amazing how intricate flowers are and how...

I’ve always loved taking Panorama shots with my camera.  I haven’t had the best of luck getting them to turn out well.  I really like this top shot of Mt St Helens.  I haven’t done a lot of vertical pannos, but now I would like to do more. If you click on the photos, you will get a better sense of how beautiful these places are. Crater Lake taken a few years ago. Here you can see the sort of problems...

Come on Down to the Funky Door

Side Note: The old business had their phone number on the glass window.  I helped scrap...

On Sunday, I headed up to Mount St. Helens with relatives from Kentucky.  My husband and I last visited the mountain a year ago, about two months before it’s last big eruption.  For those of you living outside of the "ring of fire".  Mount St. Helens is one of the youngest and more volatile volcanoes among the many many active mountains along the Pacific Northwest, South America, Japan, etc.  It had...

Alaskan Cruise

Alaskan Cruise

Posted on Jun 27, 2006

Our cruise to Alaska was amazing!  We left Seattle on Sunday and returned to Seattle the following Sunday.  I think I’m sold on the idea of cruising.  The food is plentiful, the towns come to you and there is always something beautiful to see.  My husband wrote a really good post about our trip here. He talks about what we did each day.  So since that’s already done for me, I thought I would post a...
