Holcombe Waller

Holcombe Waller

My husband and I got the chance to see Holcombe Waller play at the PDX Pop Now festival this weekend.   We first discovered Holcombe in the play ‘One’ created by Wade McCollum.  We were blown away by his amazing voice.  He only played for 30 minutes as did all the bands in the festival.  I loved every minute of his performance. PDX Pop Now festival was very well organized and easy to attend. ...

Last night, I saw Kristin Hersh (who now resides in Portland) and Grant-Lee Phillips play at Berbati’s.  It was such a great show.  I got to hang with my good friend Smartwick (probably the coolest girl I know) who initially turned me on to Kristin.  The show started at 9:30 and was all acoustic.  Yes, I know these pictures suck, but it’s nice to have a visual memory of the concert.  Grant-Lee and...

The Silver Tongued Devil and I

Last night I went to see Kris Kristofferson at the Aladdin Theater.  My husband and I also got tickets for my mom and sister for Christmas.  We were amazingly lucky that it didn’t rain on us while we waited in line.  We have had at least 25 straight days of rain in Portland.  And while it did rain earlier in the day, it was dry all evening long.  I’m very anxious when it comes to concerts and I am...

Joseph Cornell

Joseph Cornell

I discovered Joseph Cornell quite by accident.  I was a teenager and looking through art books at Powell’s.  Something I did quite a lot of at that age.  I found a book on Cornell and I was blown away.  His shadow boxes are extraordinary. I have always wanted to make shadow boxes.  I have spent years collecting odds and ends to put in the boxes I’m going to make.  For some reason, I...
