Good and Bad Karma

Good and Bad Karma

Walking down NW 21st after Omakase at Tanuki, my cousin and I happened upon this upcycled Good Karma newspaper stand.     Only in Portland.  We took pictures, which was hard to do with one hand, and went on our way.   Then circling back on NW 23rd on our way to Paley's Place for dessert, we happened upon the Bad Karma stand.  This pieces just added to an already great evening.  I love finding...

Rafting down the Deschutes

Posted on Sep 8, 2010

On the way back from a cousin's wedding a few weeks ago, my cousin and I spent the night in Maupin at the Imperial River Company Hotel.  I had purchased a Groupon for half price rafting down the Deschutes.  This is something I've always wanted to do.  The Deschutes river is in my blood having grown up in Redmond, Oregon.   It was so convenient staying in the hotel and then walking 100 feet down...

Long Day’s Journey Into Night

Long Day’s Journey Into Night

Posted on Sep 1, 2010

My cousin and I went to see Long Day's Journey Into Night at the Newmark Theater last week.  I'm always trying to find something of culture for us to do when he visits.  I didn't know much about this play beforehand, but reading how it came to be and that William Hurt would star in the production was just too good to pass up.  Before the play, I watched the movie that has a stunning performance by...
