My Niece’s Birthday

My Niece’s Birthday

Posted on Nov 13, 2007

My niece turned 14 over the weekend.  For her present this year, I went with a Fimo theme to support her gnome making business.  Some might think a toaster oven (modeled by my cat Atty) is a strange gift for a 14 year old, but her gnomes will be happy to have their own oven to cook in.  Fimo cooked in the oven used for food isn’t the healthiest.  I also made her Birthday cake this year.  She has the same...

House Sitting Presents

Posted on Nov 9, 2007

One side benefit of house sitting is getting presents.  For house sitting last month, I got lots of presents.  Besides the yummy food they left me and a gift certificate to a yarn store, my friends gave me the necklace above .  I first Lisa’s work at the Rebel Rabbit Craft Fair and I feel in love them them.  I was very surprised when my friends remembered this. I’m so excited to showcase this week’s WAW Artist.  Doug Randall’s glass work is just amazing.  He makes vessels that just boggle the mind.  These aren’t small items.  They are big heavy complicated creations.  On top of that, he’s a heck of a nice guy.  He generously gave my kiln partner and I lots and lots of scrap glass that is just perfect for our jewelry endeavors. ...
