Pickathon

Pickathon

Greg wanted to go to Pickathon as his celebration of his 40th birthday. I must admit, I was a little worried about attending this 3 day music festival. I’m not the best in crowds and I was worried. I’m so glad we went. It was better than anything I expected. They keep the audience levels low and it created a wonderful experience. It never felt uncomfortably crowded. It was so well planned and we had a great time. I...

A New Chapter

A New Chapter

Posted on Aug 10, 2013

For the last seven years, I got off the bus and walked the pedestrian overpass to this building. Seven years is the longest I’ve ever worked anywhere. I spent most of my 30′s here. It’s a place I have come to love (and hate) and I pretty much know it inside and out. My last day was August 1st. I’m very excited to have found a job at my dream college. As much as I am ready to move on to a new chapter, this...

Toronto and Niagara Falls

My sis, her best friend, and I went to Toronto in June to visit my cousin and his husband. We had one week to explore this amazing city. We packed each day very full and walked a ton. Here are a few of the trip highlights. On the first leg of the trip, we took a small prop plane to Vancouver. I love the optical illusion of the bent propeller with Mt. Rainier in the background. My cousin’s house is close to Queen West. I love...

Portland Oregon Sign Pinata

Karen and I have been friends since 1995. Her 40th Birthday party was last weekend. A month or so ago, she asked me if I would want to help her make a pinata of the Portland Oregon sign for her party. I think my exact words were “hells yes”. We had made plans to meet two weeks before her party, but she was sick and we didn’t meet. Then I was on vacation the weekend before the party. I have to admit, about this time I...

Greg and I took a much need vacation to San Francisco. This was the first real vacation we’ve had in over a year. Our main reason for visiting was to see my bestie Diana who moved down here a couple of years ago. This is the first time I’ve seen her new digs in Alameda. We also got to visit with an Uncle for lunch, visit the Winchester house, and see a SR-71.     I didn’t take my big camera and only...

2012 – Year End Review

Posted on Dec 31, 2012

Last week I started thinking about 2012 and how the year had gone. My first thought was: “wow, not much happened this year”. Well, that’s just my bad memory kicking in (which is the main reason for writing these kinds of posts). I sat down with my calendar and reviewed everything I had done and it was a lot! It was so much fun to walk down memory lane and remember the great times over the year. Here are some...

Trilly

Back in 1996, Greg brought home two kittens. His co-worker’s cat had a litter and we were excited to get two brothers. This was the first time we had pets together. I grew up with a million cats and I was thrilled to have them again. Two years ago, we lost Atticus (on the right) to cancer. The last few months of his life were hard. He was so sick and it was hard to watch him go through that. His passing was very sad, but still...

Hump Day Art Festival

Hump Day Art Festival

Posted on Oct 14, 2012

I’ve been really excited to check out Hump Day Art Festival. This brand new art fair is held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 6-10pm at SE 9th and Morrison. 9th street is closed for about 4 blocks, but there is lots of potential for this event to grow in the inner SE Warehouse district. We arrived about 6:30pm and it was starting to get dark. There was still plenty of time to see everything. About half of the booths had...

Saul Williams at Doug Fir

I have been a fan of Saul Williams for over 15 years now. I was thrilled when my brother-in-law suggested we see Saul at Doug Fir. Greg and I have seen Saul twice before backed with his band. here is my post about seeing him in 2008 at the Aladdin. This time, he stood alone on stage and did spoken poetry. It was an intimate and incredible night. I’m so glad I was able to attend this concert.   We got to Doug Fir just after...
